About Us

Our homes are private and cozy for groups from 2 to 22. Our guests comment on the many amenities we provide. Our linen service is the most appreciated. In an area where most rental providers ask you to bring sheets and towels, we have the beds made and fresh towels set out before you arrive.

Kokanee Lodge and Carson Chalets.

Centrally situated near the shore of Lake Almanor, Kokanee Lodge & Carson Chalets offers visitors to the area an ideal location from which to enjoy a variety of recreational activities.

The Kokanee Lodge consists of the main lodge plus two separate Chalets, with room for groups of 2 to 22 people.

Surrounded by huge pine and cedar trees, the Lodge has three bedrooms upstairs, and one downstairs, and can sleep up to ten people.

“Families often will rent all 3 homes because grandparents or guests who have trouble with stairs can sleep downstairs with their own bathroom and there are 3 more bedrooms upstairs with flexible sleeping accommodations ,” says proprietor Kim Carson, who together with husband Jim purchased the renovated A-frame structures in 2001.

In addition to four bedrooms and two full baths, the Lodge has a large great room featuring a three story high stone fireplace, open beam ceilings, and a dining room that looks out at the lake. Large windows provide plenty of light and create a sense of open space with great outside views while maintaining privacy.

The double Chalets each sleep up to 6 and have two and a half bedrooms each; A main level bedroom with a full kitchen, bathroom and an upstairs bedroom with double twin beds, plus an open loft with a double bed to sleep two.

All three houses have individual washers and dryers located within the units. And of course central heating and air-conditioning is provided.

The modern kitchens are fully stocked with pots and pans, cooking utensils, dishes, a stove, microwave and a refrigerator, “everything guests need in a regular kitchen.”

Units include Wi-Fi for guests who want to connect to the Internet, and flat-screen TVs are located in the living rooms and all the bedrooms, with cable service provided.

There are also outdoor BBQ grills for each home available in the patio areas.

Located on a very private half-acre with great views of Lake Almanor and Dyer Mountain, it’s just a short 300 feet to the shoreline. A boat slip is usually available and included with the rental at no extra charge.

“All the units are thoroughly cleaned before our guests arrive, with full linen service, and ready-made beds, plus towels in the kitchens and bathrooms.”

“During the peak season, which runs from the end of June until after Labor Day, our minimum stay is seven nights,” Jim explains. Off-season starts mid September until mid June, during which guests can rent for a day or longer, with lower rates.

Plenty of free parking is available, and for an additional fee, RVs can park across the street at Paul Bunyan Resort.

There’s no danger of exhausting all the recreational possibilities in the area. Guests come to fish, go boating, swim, or just to relax on the lakefront lawn and enjoy a leisurely vacation.

Lake Almanor Kayaks will deliver kayaks, paddleboards and bikes which can be rented for one or more days.

Visitors to the area can rent boats, jetskis, bicycles, or go horseback riding. During the winter season, people like to cross-country ski or rent snowmobiles, while Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park is a great destination in any season being less than an hour’s drive away.

Close to the Lodge it’s just a hop, skip and a jump to Lake Almanor Country Club, which offers a fine dining restaurant and full bar, plus a 9-hole golf course open to the public with a day pass. Or golfers can choose to play 18 holes at Baily Creek Golf course located nearby. The Peninsula Market is also on Peninsula Drive just minutes away featuring an extensive wine cellar and specialty foods.

Kokanee Lodge and Carson Chalets is located at 454 and 458 Peninsula Dr., off A-13 from Highway 36. The property is entered from the last driveway on the left just before the lower Almanor Country Club gate, between two stone pillars and onto Kokanee Lodge Ct.
